The Trinity Valley North Central Destination ImagiNation Regional Tournament held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at R. L. Turner High School in Carrollton. Hebron High School was represented very well by four teams, three of which placed First and one which was a very close Second.
Competing in the Switch! structural challenge at the secondary level, the freshman team comprised of Ashley Braun, Mackenzie Kinsella, Amy Mackintosh, and Lauren Mastellar, was awarded First Place; team manager is Terri Tristan. Competing in the Chorific! improvisational challenge, the team comprised of freshmen Nikke DeYear, Mariana Horiates, Colin McLaughlin, Dillon Thomas and Arbor Creek eighth graders Brandon Atwood, Kyle McLaughlin, and Carly Wenyon, also placed First; Marty McLaughlin is their team manager. Competing in the DI've Got a Secret theatrical challenge, the team comprised of senior Kym Weston, juniors Alyssa Grimley, Matt Mitchell, Bianca Nguyen, Kelsey Norden, Morgan Ray, and sophomore Trent Commons, also was awarded First Place; team managers are Robin Napier and Bruce Norden. Competing in the Hit or Myth scientific/theatrical challenge, the senior team comprised of Rachael Adamo, Stephanie Benge, Keith Kinsella, and David Pike, was awarded Second Place; Terri Tristan is team manager.
Four scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding, well-deserving seniors throughout the TVNC Region who have been involved with DI and/or its predecessor, Odyssey of the Mind, for a number of years. This year (and for the first time since 2003), three of these four Regional scholarships were earned by Hebron High School students: Rachael Adamo, Stephanie Benge, and Keith Kinsella.
Trinity Valley North Central is the largest Destination ImagiNation Region of Texas and consists of 17 counties along the northern branches of the Trinity River and up through North Central Texas. The three Hebron First Place teams will represent the TVNC Region in their respective challenges at the secondary level at the DI State Tournament on April 4 and 5, 2008 in Round Rock, Texas.
