Senate Bill 175

Under the new Texas law, Texas public universities are to automatically admit enough students in the top 10% of a graduating class to fill up to 75% of the available spaces set aside for Texas residents in an entering freshman class beginning with the 2011 summer/fall class. As a result, UT Austin will automatically admit all eligible 2011 freshman who rank within the top 8% of their graduating classes, with remaining spaces to be filled through the holistic review.
At this time, UT Austin is the only university affected by Senate Bill 175.
