Who can
be an Athletic Trainer?
Athletic Training is for anyone that
likes sports, or for anyone that has an interested in medicine. For a student that is interested in some
form of medicine as an eventual profession, athletic training is a wonderful
opportunity to gain experience before entering college. In athletic training, students get to help
licensed athletic trainers treat and take care of most injuries that occur
with any athletic team. Whether is it
taking care of bruises, cuts, sprains, or strains athletic trainers are
needed to be there when a coach or athletes needs them. Athletic trainers are needed not just at
games, but are also needed at practices to assist the coaches and athletes as
they prepare for games. In Athletic
Training and Team Sports (Second period Sports Training on your course
selection sheet) students will learn how to recognize, treat, and rehab
injuries that can be seen in athletics.
As apart of treating injuries the students will learn what to do to take care the injuries not only when they occur, but also
they will learn how to get the athlete back playing again, which may include
having to tape an athlete. As a result the students will have to learn how to
tape and supports injuries. Students
interested in athletic training sign up for Athletic Training and Team
Sports (Second period Sports
Training on your course selection sheet) or talk to Coach Whiteley (extension 6940), or Coach Bradley (extension
6705).
