CHOIRS OF
Concert Choir (Mixed Choir 1-4) This choir
is the only non-auditioned choir at Hebron HS. The choir performs in all concerts, competes
at UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest and members are participants in the
LISD Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students
in the Concert Choir are graded on individual participation, group oral tests
and rehearsal and performance attendance.
Belle Chanson (In the fall this is listed as Treble
1-4and spring it is listed as Advanced Treble 1-4.) is an auditioned group for
just women's voices. These ladies will
sing three and four part harmonies.
Select Treble members will perform in all HHS choir concerts, UIL Concert
and Sight-reading Contest and will participate in the LISD Solo and Ensemble
Contest. Select Treble Ensemble may also
be asked to perform at other community and school events during the year. Select Treble Ensemble members will be graded
on class participation, oral tests, and rehearsal and concert attendance. Belle Chanson members must remain in choir
for a full year.
A Cappella Choir (listed as Vocal Ensemble 1-4)
is the varsity choir of Hebron HS. A
spring audition will be held to select these vocal students. The A Cappella Choir sings at all HHS choir
concerts, LISD and UIL competitions (solos and ensembles) and its members are
the ALL STATE CHOIR audition participants who represent HHS during the fall
auditions. Students in this choir will
be expected to learn and perform music at a faster pace. They will be evaluated on the basis of
participation, individual and group oral tests, and attendance to various
rehearsals and performance during the year.
A Cappella performs at several community and civic events during the
school year. A Cappella members are
urged to attend a summer choir camp to prepare for Texas All-State
auditions. A Cappella students must
remain in the choir for a full year.
HARMONY! is the Hebron High School Show Choir. Members of Harmony will be selected during a spring
audition and must be chosen as a member of A Cappella choir for 2005-2006
school year to participate. This group will meet 1-2 times a week outside
the school day (or perhaps one night a week from
Auditions for A Cappella Choir and Belle Chanson will be
held on Monday, April
23rd starting at 4:15 p.m. in the HHS Choir Room. Choir officers will be available to
help/teach/critique middle school students at the middle school campuses the
week before auditions. Judges will hear
students sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee" a cappella, a song will tape
accompaniment (provided by the HHS director). Students will also sight-read an
eight-measure melody. An information audition packet will be
available to students during April. Both
songs (or three if auditioning for Harmony!) need to be memorized for the
audition.
