CHOIRS OF
Concert Choir (listed as Mixed Choir 1-4) is the only non-auditioned choir at Hebron HS. The choir performs in all concerts, competes at UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest and members are participants in the LISD Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students in the Concert Choir are graded on individual participation, group oral tests and rehearsal and performance attendance. Students are encouraged to remain in this class for a full year.
Belle Chanson (listed as Treble Choir 1-4) is an auditioned group for just women's voices. These ladies will sing three and four part harmonies. Select Treble members will perform in all HHS choir concerts, UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest and will participate in the LISD Solo and Ensemble Contest. Select Treble Ensemble may also be asked to perform at other community and school events during the year. Select Treble Ensemble members will be graded on class participation, oral tests, and rehearsal and concert attendance. Belle Chanson members must remain in choir for a full year unless given special permission by the director.
A Cappella Choir (listed as Vocal Ensemble 1-4) is the varsity choir of Hebron HS. A spring audition will be held to select these vocal students. The A Cappella Choir sings at all HHS choir concerts, LISD and UIL competitions (solos and ensembles) and its members are the ALL STATE CHOIR audition participants who represent HHS during the fall auditions. Students in this choir will be expected to learn and perform music at a faster pace. They will be evaluated on the basis of participation, individual and group oral tests, and attendance to various rehearsals and performance during the year. A Cappella performs at several community and civic events during the school year. A Cappella members are urged to attend a summer choir camp to prepare for Texas All-State auditions. A Cappella students must remain in the choir for a full year.
HARMONY! is the Hebron High School Show Choir. Members of Harmony will be selected during a spring audition (after April 22th) and must be chosen as a member of A Cappella choir for 2010-2011 school year to participate. This group will meet 2 times a week outside the school day. Harmony competes during the spring choir trip so members must attend. The group will have a different uniform and will incorporate choreography into their program. This group will have 8-16 members.
Auditions for A Cappella Choir and Belle Chanson will be held on April 22, 2010 at 4:15 p.m. in the HHS Choir Room. Judges will hear students sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee" a cappella and another song with CD accompaniment (provided by the HHS directors). Students will also sight-read an eight-measure melody. An information audition packet will be available to students during April. Both songs must be memorized for the audition.
