Class meets 3rd period in the fall and 4th period in the spring.
During the season all players must be available for Saturday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holiday practices and games. In order to be placed in the fall off season class, a student must have participated on their 8th grade middle school team. Approval from the head coach must be obtained by anyone outside LISD attendance zone in order to be placed in the fall off season class. Open tryouts will be held in late October for all interested students. Cost Participation in all fundraisers. Participation in outside leagues is encouraged.

Students must be at all games including those during Spring Break. This is not a PE class. There are three teams of approximately 16 players per team. Tryouts are held at the end of January. We are looking for players of high character with good baseball skills. Cost Participation in all fundraisers.
CHEERLEADING

Class meets 4th period fall and spring.
Mandatory tryout meeting on February 24th to learn what is expected for tryouts. Tryouts will be in March, the week before spring break. E-mail me for information or grab flyers that will be on middle school campuses in a few weeks. Time commitment will be various nights a week for a variety of sports, camp the week after school gets out, and practices two weeks prior to school stating. Cost - $1,000.00 which can be paid in installments March May.
CROSS COUNTRY

Meets are Saturday mornings from late August to late November. Students must start summer practice approximately two weeks BEFORE school begins. Optional Tuesday and Thursday practices are held throughout summer. Students can expect strenuous conditioning. No previous school participation is required. Cost participation in all fundraisers and any personal items.

Class meets 4th period fall and spring. Monday Wednesday practice will continue after school until 6:00p.m. Games are Thursday night. Friday practice during school period.

Class meets 4th period fall and spring. Practices are held 2 to 3 hours a day Monday Friday.
All players must have intermediate to advanced skill level, a working knowledge of the USGA rules and regulations of golf and prior tournament experience. Information is available at www.hebrongolf.com. Try-outs for incoming 9th grades will be mid May. Cost Students must have their own set of golf clubs and be a member of Junior Golf Association.
SAPPHIRES JV

Students must be able to run a 10 minute mile, perform a single pirouette, and a chasse jete. Mandatory try-out information meeting is March 10, 2009. Try-outs are March 23-26, 2009. Cost - $500.00 if everything is purchased new.

Class meets 1st period fall for JV and 4th period spring for JV.
Student must be present for Christmas and Spring Break workouts. Anyone can try-out; however, prior soccer experience and knowledge is beneficial. Students wishing to try-out need to have a strong work ethic and a dedication to the sport. Soccer is in season January through March. Try-outs will be held in November.

Class meets 2nd period fall for JV and 3rd period fall for varsity. Both teams meet 4th period spring. After December 1st practice until 5:30 p.m. Monday Friday.
Student must be present for Christmas and Spring Break workouts. In order to have a successful fall semester in preparation for the spring soccer, you must be willing to work hard, follow the rules, and believe that everyday you come to class and give 100% get us one step closer to the Playoffs and STATE. Two teams will be selected of 18-20 players on varsity and 18 players on JV. Consideration to dressing out, participation, work ethic, grades, and attitude will be taken when selecting a team. Tryouts will be held the week after Thanksgiving. Cost Participation in fundraisers, homecoming festivities, and any other gatherings sponsored by the school or booster club.
SOFTBALL GIRLS -

Class meets 3rd period in the fall and 4th period in the spring. In season practice is 3:00 -5:15p.m. daily, two nights a week for games and some Saturdays. In season begins the last week in January.
In coming 9th graders should have played on a summer team and/or select team the summer before entering 9th grade and/or attended a summer clinic or softball summer camp prior to entering 9th grade. An athlete should be able to throw a ball at least 60 feet and be able to hit a ball traveling at least 42 MPH. Skills involved in softball are throwing, hitting, fielding, and running.
SWIMMING AND

Class meets 1st period fall and spring for Varsity and 4th period fall and spring for JV. varsity practices 7:00 9:00a.m. and JV practices 3:00 4:15p.m. Monday Friday.
For swimming, participant will have to show knowledge of the sport and can make at least one length of the pool without assistance. For diving, experience is not required. Cost can range $50.00 to $100.00 depending on the equipment purchased.
TENNIS BOYS/GIRLS

Class meets 1st period fall and spring for JV and 4th period for varsity as well as practice after school.
Students wishing to tryout for the tennis team should have an understanding of the basic rules of the game of tennis. Students should also be able to perform basic skills which include the serve, the volley, and ground-strokes. Generally speaking, students wishing to make a team should have received some form of instruction before trying out.

VOLLEYBALL GIRLS

Class meets 1st period fall and spring. In season, practice begins at 7:00a.m. for freshmen. Games are Tuesday and Fridays with some weekend tournaments and/or practices.
Tryouts start in early August BEFORE school begins. It is imperative that interested athletes get information from Coach Keeney before the summer of tryouts. Volleyball summer packets will be delivered to middle schools in MAY so all interested 9th grade girls know EXACTLY what dates are important and what they will need to try out in August. Conditioning and weightlifting occur year around with off season adding running, footwork and skill training. Athletes wanting to tryout need to understand that the volleyball program has very high demands on student/athletes. We pride ourselves on our work ethic and hold ourselves to a high standard on the court and classroom. Some athletes play club volleyball and although it is very beneficial, it is not mandatory. Athletes will be measured on athleticism, skill, and knowledge of the game.
WRESTLING BOYS -

Class meets 3rd period in the fall for JV and 4th period in the spring. Varsity meets 4th period fall and spring. Practices will be until 5:30p.m. Monday Friday with weekend competitions.
Wrestling included three seasons pre-season (first day of school to third week in October) features weightlifting and introduction to wrestling. In-season (third week of October to third week of February) and post-season (first week of March to the end of school year) that will primarily include weight-training.
