French and Spanish

Spanish

Spanish 4 AP and Spanish 5 are both preparation for the Spanish language  AP test.

Spanish 4 AP students continue acquiring skills needed for real-life communication by reading and listening to authentic materials from newspaper, internet, television and literature.  Writing and speaking (both formally and informally) are practiced daily with Spanish being used in class almost exclusively.  Students will be prepared to take the AP Spanish Language in May.

Spanish 5 is a flexible advanced language course based on student needs.  For those students who have passed the AP Spanish Language exam, study will focus on Latin American literature.  For many students the course will be an additional opportunity to focus on the four skills of language learning and prepare for the AP Language exam.

Spanish 6 students will focus on Spanish and Latin American literature, analysis of works, and essay writing designed primarily as preparation for the AP Spanish Literature exam.

Students who wish to take a little more time to prepare or feel they need additional preparation are encouraged to take SP 4 AP in the fall and SP5 AP in the spring—back to back for the optimal preparation.

Students who wish to prepare only in SP 4 AP are encouraged to take it in the spring since the test is always given in May.

French

French 4AP and 5  are both preparation for the French AP Language test.  At this time no French Literature AP class is offered.
