HEBRON HIGH SCHOOL BPA
business professionals of america

HISTORY

The Hebron High School chapter of Business Professionals of America was created during the 2004-2005 school year under the guidance of Leslie Davis. Aimed at developing "tomorrow's business professionals," the organization's principles of leadership, academics, teamwork, and technological skills attracted students of unmatched caliber. Though small in membership, a few pioneer individuals succeeded in advancing to the State BPA competition, an impressive showing for a first-year group.

Continuing the trends of academic excellence and professional skills, the organization sent five members—Mutaaf Aziz, Mary Effler, Angela Miguel, Fahim Pyarali, and Carol Shih—to the 2005-2006 State BPA competition in Lubbock, Texas. Effler and Pyarali, both National Qualifiers, advanced to the National BPA competition in Orlando, Florida, in an astounding display of talent.

At the start of the 2006-2007 school year the leadership of BPA changed hands from those of Ms. Davis to Ms. Annie Seeman. 2007 also marked the second year that a BPA student advanced to the National BPA competition in New York—Mutaaf Aziz in VB.Net Programming. The State BPA competition also saw an unprecedented amount of National Alternates (listed in the awards section)

Losing our 2007 seniors lead to a year of rebuilding in 2007-2008. Two students advanced to the State level: Roxana Calvo and John Shue.

In 2008-2009, with Ms. Seeman's added committments to the Senior Class, Ms. Davis rejoined BPA, enlisting the help of webmastering lead teacher, Ellery Smith, and Intro. to Business teacher Mary Garza. Our intention is to broaden the number of contests the students participate in and possibly create 2 or 3 separate BPA units here at HHS. Many schools take this route in an effort to allow more than one student to compete in popular exams such as HTML .
