Try-outs occur in May and consist of:
The first step of the try-out process is running a mile in nine minutes or less, in front of the director, with a group of peers, to be qualified for the dance part of the try-outs. The Captain from the previous year creates a try-out routine and teaches it to the girls over a two day workshop. On the third day, people wanting to try-out need to meet in the gym in black Baltog pants, a black sports bra, and a black boatneck leotard with their try-out number pinned to the front. (Try-out number provided at the beginning of try-outs). Each girl will be put randomly in a try-out group. When it is each groups time to perform, they will walk into the big gym, set their spacing, and the director will play the dance's music. After the dance the group will be counted for their splits and counted for recovery and will exit the gym and wait for dismissal. (each step will be taught and reviewed during the workshop process) After everyone has finished the try-out process the director will dismiss the girls and the results of try-outs will be posted on the Silver Wings' website about an hour after dismissal.
For more information or questions contact the director or wait for try-out information passed out towards the end of April.
