Hebron High School Chapter of Future Educators of America

Purpose of the chapter shall be to:

1.      Provide students with opportunities to explore teaching as a career option;

2.      Help students gain a realistic understanding of the nature of education and the role of the teacher; and

3.      Coordinate information about teaching as a profession, employment opportunities, financial assistance options, and educational issues.

Membership in the chapter shall be open to students who are currently enrolled in the school and are interested in learning about education as a profession.

Eligibility requirements:

1.      Meet the academic standards required by the school for students to participate in extracurricular activities.

2.      Complete an application form.

Dues:  are $5.00 per semester.

Meetings:  Third Thursday of the month after school.  Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed.

Phi Delta Kappa, A professional association in education serves as the national coordinator for the programs of Future Educators of America.  FEA is housed at the international headquarters of Phi Delta Kappa.  The association assumed this responsibility in 1994. 

Goals and Objectives

I.Future Educators of America shall strive to interest students in the field of education early in their school experience.

II.Future Educators of America shall place a strong emphasis on the recruitment of students with diverse ethnic, racial, social, and economic backgrounds.

III.Future Educators of America shall strive to promote excellence in students interested in the teaching profession by promoting academic achievement, developing a positive self-image, and encouraging leadership responsibilities.

IV.Future Educators of America shall enhance the quality of the schools educational program by fostering an appreciation for teaching and contributing to the smooth operation of the school.

V.Future Educators of America shall promote a positive image of education to students, parents, and the community and shall disseminate information about the teaching profession.

VI.Future Educators of America shall encourage members to be positive role models in the school, the organization, and the community.
