Senior ExemptionsSeniors may be exempted from final examinations taken at the end of the school year if the following criteria are satisfied: (Exemptions will occur at the end of the school year but NOT in December at the end of the first term.) · Attendance for exemption purposes is calculated during the spring school term (18 weeks) from January through June. Grade averages for exemptions are based on the final 9 weeks average of the fourth quarter of the school year. Two days prior to semester exams being given will be the date that determines if a student is exempt or not exempt. (Note: In the case of a 9-weeks course, attendance will be considered for that course only.) · To be exempt, students must have a grade average of: 90 with no more than 2 absences, 85 with no more than 1 absence, or 80 with no absences · For purposes of calculating exemptions, documented college visits WILL count as absences. It is recommended that college visits be taken in the Fall term if the student does not want the absence to count against exemptions. · Students who have been truant, suspended, expelled or in AEP are ineligible for exam exemptions in ALL classes. · For purposes of calculating exemptions, 3 tardies equal one absence. · Any senior will be able to take exams if they choose. · If a student is exempt from his final exams they will still be required to be at school on the exam days. Spring Exemptions from Final Exams for AP StudentsStudents of any grade level enrolled in an AP class may be exempted from that class’s final exam if they take the National AP Exam for that subject and have at least an 85% class average.
